[Jailbreak]HeadphoneLauncher - Display An App Launcher When Headphones Are Plugged In

  


Surely, one thing iOS lacks is quick access to sound-based applications when you're plugging your headphones in. A really useful 99¢ jailbreak tweak has been released today dubbed HeadphoneLauncher by iOS development firm S2 IT Consulting LLC. The tweak brings an application launcher to the lock screen when you plug in a sound accessory such as speakers or headphones via the headphone jack. This is a feature Apple should have implemented to begin with, as it makes launching the Music application or other sound-based applications much easier upon being ready to listen with your sound device.

The screenshot above shows you the interface for the application launcher that appears on your lock screen after plugging in a sound accessory. It includes the iPod controls right above the application launcher. You can have as many applications as you want in it, however only four applications will show at a time. You can scroll to page through your applications just like you would page through applications on your home screen. Applications for the HeadphoneLauncher interface are chosen from the preferences pane that appears in your Settings application when you install the tweak:



It should be noted that the application launcher only becomes available to you on the lock screen and nowhere else. It also only becomes available once – after you use it, you won’t see it again until you plug your sound accessory in again. A suggested update for this tweak might be to have the application launcher statically available on the lock screen as long as a sound accessory is plugged in; or at least the option to enable a feature like this.

This tweak is great for people that use headphones or other sound accessories with their iDevice, however if you find yourself not using sound accessories too often, then this tweak isn’t for you. One the other hand, if you’re a heavy music-lover, then you’ll probably really want to give this tweak a try to make launching your favorite music applications or even your favorite YouTube client for that matter, much zippier.
